Well yes it is sufficient security protection for your computer system but it is unfair to say that it is probably the best antivirus program…
Every antivirus program has pros and cons and it is best as it own….
If you are looking for best Antivirus program then I would say that It is either McAfee premium or AVG Antivirus program…
lol Norton? Of course not, norton is completely worthless in my book.
your better off downloading Avast.
No, otherwise everybody would be happy. Though it protects against lots of malware and viruses, it does not protect against all.Because viruses and malware continue to evolve and new are created. However Norton comes from a good company, so you can trust them.
However i personally do not like norton because it uses a lot of computer resources.
If you want a good free antivirus software, try downloading avira antivir. It has very high detection rate as many reviews say. Do not forget though to never install 2 antiviruses at the same time because they may conflict.
You may also use these 2 antispyware apps :
1. Malwarebytes antimalware (free)
2. SUPERantispyware (free)
Add these two and your computer should be ok for protection.
You can download from http://www.downloads.com.
Hope this helped you! You can learn more by reading reviews. You can read Gizmo`s review for more info on viruses and Malware.
Norton Antivirus is good but it can’t protect you if you don’t keep the virus definitions up-to-date or you have unsafe surfing and downloading habits. Always use common sense and stay away from suspicious sites like porn, torrent, etc…
NO but it’s a good program. Go to the library & look up the latest reviews on security software in "Consumer Reports" magazine. For instant gratification, see the links below. It’s OK to use a 2nd program to scan for viruses, but don’t keep 2 different anti-virus programs on at the same time. Avira would be a good alternate anti-virus program.
All anti-virus/anti-spyware programs need to be kept up-to-date every day at least! You should at least run "quick scans" every day & complete scans 1x/wk.
I recommend Zone Alarms free firewall for added protection, not from viruses, but from hacker attacks on your PC.
Windows Defender is an OK anti-spyware IF you can run with Norton & not get a lot of error messages or PC glitches.
sorry no
u urself is ur best protection
ur worst enemy is ur friends –they direct u to all the bad sites
here is a question to ask them are u infected
best web browesr xtention
http://www.web of trust.com–it will tell u when u try to go to a bad site
p2p shareing is the worst –than opening unknown links people send u
never open any mail that looks spooky
never fall for the scam –i have a free —– for u or i have money for u —it is all a scam
Norton is good at picking up viruses, trojan, malware, etc., but it does not pick up everything. There’s new stuff coming out every day. That’s why the antivirus guys tell you to constantly update your virus definitions. Several years ago, I bought the whole Norton antivirus suite. It’s what came highly recommended and I didn’t know any better. That program bogged down my computer really hard. Everything ran slow.
Well, I let it run because it did actually picked up a virus or two and got rid of some spyware. OK, I thought, it’s working. Just let it be. I dutifully updated my definitions every week and ran my hours long scans at the end of the day. Just like I was supposed to.
Toward the end of the year, a little red box popped up. My subscription is running out!!!. Click here to pay to renew.
Huh? I thought once you paid for it, it’s yours. Oh no. You gotta pay a subscription.
I decided against renewing and uninstalled Norton. My computer instantly ran like it was new again.
There are several free antivirus sites that will scan your computer. Trend has one and so does Microsoft. I use Spybot to block the adware and spyware.
How does it work? Antivirus programs has a definition file that has details of what each specific program (adware, malware, spyware, virus, trojans) does to your registry. It notices these changes and if it detects a change that matches the pattern of what a virus does, it alerts you.
There are several ways you can get them. Most common is visiting sites that have pop up ads embedded in their pages. Most sites have advertising on them. That’s how the site owners make money. But sometimes, a person buying ad space on a site will use it as a gateway to distribute their malware. It’s a huge money making sceme for them.
That said, I think norton is good at what it does, but it’s not the ultimate virus blocking program out there. Have several applications that do different tasks. One program will pick up on one thing while another will ignore it.
See any anti-virus which is originally a licensed one ,will provide you with 100% protection from any unknown kinds of vulnerability. And acc. to me norton is also good in performing the job,so buying a genuine norton pro will be my suggestion in-order to be safe !! And always try to buy original softwares because the company will provide you with 24×7 support .Also norton provides with 24×7 call and online support.
AntiVirus software is designed to help block and most of all Warn you that a virus has entered your system. AntiVirus software of any kind "Will NOT Protect you against "Anything"". Your levels of protection are based on what you do as an "End User" and what your AntiVirus software is configured for. Not to scare you but it depends on what you do online, visiting websites or even checking your email, downloading software or music, or putting a program on ur pc that a friend gave you, if its infected per say with a virus, the software will warn you, and either "quarantine" the virus or ask you what todo with it in most cases, just because u have antivirus doesnt actually mean if you get infected the software can get rid of it. I personally reccomend to all to have a software "firewall" as firewalls Will help more in blocking numerous things before it gets on ur system such as advertisements, popups and other spyware and maleware that act as viruses, as well as antivirus! Norton is a great product dont get me wrong but with my experience Norton is a hassle and takes up to much of your PCs resources in the background. Im currently running Avast AntiVirus and Outpost Firewall. Advanced capabilites but less space and system memory to operate…
Norton = Crapola.
I wouldn’t bother with it. Download AVG free. Thats obviously free and its very good. I also use COMODO firewall too (also free) and haven’t had any viruses ever.
No anti-virus offers 100% protection.
It just prevents and removes viruses. But you must remember, one Anti-Virus agent will not be able to detect every single virus so one day you catch a virus and Norton doesn’t pick it up don’t panic. Go download, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro etc. They’re virus removal and in my mind a whole lot bette rthan Norton products.
No anti-virus will protect you from everything. Personally, i dislike norton. It is heavy on the computer and not that accurate.
Nothing protects against everything…and an Anti-Virus program protects you against one *class* of malware.
Think about it like a Measles vaccination…it protects you against contracting the measles, but if your boyfriend has a cold sore and you kiss him, the vaccination will NOT prevent you from contracting a cold sore.
The AV program keeps a definitions file that lets it scan files to determine if they are malware or not. If the file it scans has a code string like the ones it is looking for, it flags it for attention, quarantine, or deletion.
Spyware, Adware, Pop-Ups, etc, will still get through, since they are different kinds of code than what your AV program is looking for.
Depending on the virus, it is *very* easy to tell you’re infected…there are issues with lag (the amount of time between you telling the computer to do something and it doing it), functionality (programs you use no longer running – or even loading), useability (the computer keeps crashing), to the computer dying on you. For others, you can only tell if you do a scan with an AV program with an updated definitions file.
Now as for the kinds/types/etc of AV programs… Norton is one of the best on the market (especially if combined with the other programs in Symantec’s Norton Internet Security 2010, or 360 3.0 products). There are others out there that are as good/better/almost as good, and the preference is just that…individual preferences.
The thing to watch-out for is freeware…generally, with the exception of Firewalls (Zonealarm produces one of the best, and it’s free!), freeware is to be avoided – unless it is a Trial Program from a company like Symantec / McAfee / Computer Associates / Panda / etc. There are exceptions, but they are infrequent enough to render this statement real. In particular, AVGFree is to be avoided at ALL costs…the program has a detection rate about 60%, and the industry considers anything under 80% an outright failure. As with all of the good ones, Norton is in the 90%+ category.
Try to use Real Time Scanning programs only, as On-Demand programs are just that…they act only when you tell them to, so the malware is actually resident on the computer, instead of contained in a packet of information stopped before receipt and install as it is with a RTS.
Good Luck!
