Each time i try to download some software to scan my computer this message comes up just as im installing it. "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WSOCK32.DLL IS NOT A VALID WINDOWS IMAGE, PLEASE CHECK THIS AGAINST YOUR INSTALATION DISKETTE."
My computer is also running awfly sllooow. I would really appreciate some help. Its XP

wsock32.dll is a process belonging to the Windows Sockets program . File that contains the Windows Sockets API used by most Internet and network applications to handle network connections.

All you need to do is copy the .DLL file you have downloaded from above into C:\Windows\System32. Once the .DLL is copied over, run the following command: "regsvr32 filename.dll" and your .DLL will be successfully installed. The tutorial works perfectly well on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Delete Wsock32.DLL and windows will remake it it sounds like its corrupt.
I can understand if your a little worried about doing it so i will suggest a few less "drastic" options as well which you can try before hand;
Run windows repair (what it might work?)
Run CCCleaner
Run checkdisk (My computer > C Drive > Right click > Properties> etc)
