I have a legit copy of Windows XP as it came preloaded on my computer when I purchased it from Dell. I think my Windows may be corrupted as it won’t restart properly (after Windows XP logo it goes to a black screen and requires me to go into safe mode and do a system restore in order to finally get back into Windows)
With that said is there anyway to obtain a copy of Windows XP off Microsoft’s website or Dell and burn it or will I have to buy a new copy of the software?
Thanks to all who answer in advance

Get a new copy. Windows will trouble you with Activation and will probably say you have a pirated copy even if the old software is legal! It’s too much money you say? Get rid of Windows and get any Linux distros, like Mandriva, Ubuntu, Debian, Slackware, SuSe, Fedora, etc… Whatever you do, NEVER EVER put Windows & Linux on the same hard drive on different partitions. Why? You’d need to install Windows first, and Windows will kill its own partition, but might also mess up your Linux partition. Your Linux partition might still work, even if the Windows partition is corrupted. Keep installing updates of Windows & it makes the computer a lot more slower than before! Don’t do it! It just keeps all the damn files on your hard disk, and never gets rid of them when the files are "updated"!
Ask one of friend’s disc and burn it for yourself ( just don’t blame me if you burn it for real), but you won’t be able to use your friend’s license key and you’ll need to get a license key of your own if you lost it, too.
You should have had a windows xp disc and you can enter the code only 2 more times so you can use that OS and when you do do not register with Microsoft only put in the password
If you have a legit copy of XP and it was registered, then you need to discuss this with Microsoft, not Yahoo Answers. Microsoft will have a record of your registration, especially if you kept up with the updates. They will help you.
