Why does my computer keep freezing?

It works perfectly in safe mode and on a diagnostic start up configuration however when I put it on normal start up mode it freezes shortly after I try to open a program, I have scanned the computer multiple times for viruses but nothing has come up, I haven’t installed any hardware or software to my knowledge either.

I’ve got a nice Sennheiser headset, but the microphone part suddenly stopped working; how do I fix it?

All of the diagnostic software on my computer completely ignores the mic portion, which is plugged in through a separate cord. The cord is in prime condition and the headphone part works perfectly.
BTW, I’m using Windows XP on a Dell PC.
Well I tried it on another computer and it didn’t work. Do microphones usually just die like this of their own accord?

Is it posible to run a diagnostic on yoru car? ?

I've been getting a blue screen with the following message: Run a system diagnostic utility supplied by your

Try changing video adapters. Disable and remove any newly installed hardware and drivers.
Disable and remove any newly installed software.

What does all this mean?

My computer has been very slow lately and I ran disk clean up and did defragmentation yesterday. However, I'm still getting blue screens.

How can I fix my computer? Would you please describe step by step the whole process.

P.S. I have a Dell computer, a windows xp

Well i got a pretty old computer. It had 2 worms once.. and my dad got it to his friend to fix it. When he fixed it he said he wouldnt fix it again.. so now its broken again and i really want to remove viruses without paying..heres some problems

1.SO MANY VIRUSES AND STUFF.
2.WHEN I OPEN A PROGRAM IT ASKS ME WHAT PROGRAM I WANT TO OPEN IT WITH.
3.I HAVE AVG 8 BUT SINCE I CANT OPEN PROGRAM SINCE IT ASKS ME WHAT PROGRAM TO..I DONT KNOW WHAT.
4.JUST MESSED UP I TRUELY WISH TO FIX.

I REALLY WANT TO FIX!!! SO ANY SOLLUTION LIKE A GUIDE TELL ME.
