I have performed a clean install of Windows XP multiple times booting from a CD; however I seem to be experiencing difficults booting from our Dell Demension 8100. The keyboard works, as I am able to use it to load both the BIOS and Boot Choice Menu. I am also able to select the device to boot too. Once the device is selected, the message "Press Any Key" appears, I have tried pressing just single keys and also jamming as many keys as possible on the keyboard. However, no combinations appear to work. I am using a USB keyboard which appears to work fine during the boot sequence. Any help is appreciated.
I have also allowed it follow the boot order set in the BIOS. The "Press Any Key" is displayed and pressing single keys and/or combinations does not appear to work.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem.
The USB keyboard will work in BIOS mode as the BIOS has USB capabilites, but once the operating system takes over, the BIOS is not active.
Your best bet is to use a PS2 mouse to complete the installation and once the XP is up, the USB mouse can be used.
Try setting the Boot Order in the BIOS to only boot from CD.
Try the keyboard with a PS/2 Connector and then try installing the operating system.
Sounds like you are not getting the USB driver loaded for that kybd at that point in the setup of the OS.
It is probably looking for a certain interrupt and the USB kybd is not giving the interrupt correctly.
cant use USB, must be a ps2 keyboard. The uSB drivers are loaded.
you need to use a ps2 keyboard. the BIOS has its own psuedo usb-driver, but the boot selection screen may not.
