I did a clean install of Windows XP SP3 on my laptop and then when I went to my network connections my wireless is not showing up. I checked all the drives and they are fine and then network adaptor is fine but still not seeing my wireless tried to create a new wireless network and nothing still…I am not that computer savvy so just wanted to know if anyone knew what the problem could be?
It’s a gateway laptop MX6425– my router is a belkin…I’m on my desktop but have my laptop and there is no wireless connection showing only the Network Adapter Connection shows..I already did the whole Download the drives to flash drive then to laptop and still nothing. I looked in device manager and my network adapter is fine and disabled and enabled.
All the drives are installed and fine but still nothing, no wireless connection. I do appreciate the help guys!

Go to the manufacturers website to find the driver
try resetting your wireless router or your modem or both.there should be a reset button in the back of it some need a pin to reach it (an opened up paper clip should work) good luck
UPDATE!!!
Tiffanie, understand please, you see network adapter but not wireless a/b/g card in device manager? so just follow my advice in last paragraph, try it.
ok Tiffanie, first things first, download this driver if you don’t have. its the best driver for your laptop.
DRIVER:
ftp://esupport:vImvF88@ftp.gateway.com/pub/hardware_support
/drivers/win_xp/portable/BCM40100.exe
you install the wifi driver don’t care if nothing happens, just install and wait until it says driver installed successfully, now restart your laptop and see if wireless connection is visible, if not then proceed below.
now goto device manager, located in hardware tab of system properties. there see network adapters, there probably be a yellow warning sign under it, if it’s there then right click and select install driver, a wizard will open, remember to select the option of installing drivers from a list of default drivers, choose network adapter there and select any driver with a/b/g or b/g coming in its name and install it, voila! your wifi will be up in no time.
