If you have to ask don’t do it. Even the "fully automated" register cleaners require a high level of computer knowledge to use safely.
Have a computer person, a REAL computer person that does it for a living, do it for you. If you are lucky they will let you "help" them and then you will now what programs to look for.
Many many registers OS have been rendered unusable by so called "geeks" scre*ing with them. If you are going to take the plunge, copy your reg file and save it a system.bak1 or something you can refer to. In this way you will have a chance of deleting the file that scre*ed up and replacing it with the original.
The cache is volitile RAM, it is "cleaned" every time you turn off the computer.
Good Luck
Using a commercial product like McAfee is the only way you should clean up your registry. Create a restore point and then go ahead with the scan and clean. Cleaning the cache is one of the safest things you can do, they are generally useless files or cookies that take up room needlessly, some also have adware or spyware attached. I hope this helps.
get tune-up utilities 2007
that makes ur computer run faster
the registry is a very important part of your operating system. it contains all the information for the programs to work properly as they should. i would recommend to leave the registry untouch unless you really know what you are doing.
Quick Clean basically clears out unimportant items such as your Temp folder and such. it deletes the information away to create space for other usages. cleaning of the cache is safe to do so, unless if it means clearing of the processor cache, then do not touch that button.
do not worry, McAfee’s products are safe and do not touch the hardware portion. i doubt that you can do damage to the hardware anyway.
you can periodically clear your Temp files, History, Typed Address, cookies and such to make space. downloading those things that tweak your registry could have the adverse effect in destroying your software unless you have knowledge in what each special function does. in my opinion, get the PC to a techno weenie who knows what he is doing rather than do it yourself. the basis is simple. would you rather pay 20 bucks to a techno geek to lean down your registry or pay 200 bucks to troubleshoot the whole system and still not know what figure or alphabet was typed wrongly?
it is not worth the trouble to format the PC and reinstall everything should you screw up the registry accidentally.
