what about #2??? my computer guy is jewish, real smart and comes right to the house….it gives you more freedom than offices..
Based on that interests list, Mark, you’re much more of a information system major than any others (such as computer science, computer/software engineering, etc) Info Sys covers topics such as network/database/web administrations, security, business/market/system analysis, etc – not too hardcore, but has always been in high demand in many organizations.
But, you don’t need to wait for your teacher to teach you all that, you can do it now by yourself. Study the OSI model, learn all the protocols in that model; play with *nix systems (Ubuntu/Redhat/Backtrack/BSD/etc); play with popular web servers (IIS/Apache/lighthttpd/nginx/etc); database (SQL language/Oracle/MySQL/MS Access/SQL server/etc); scripting and programming languages (perl/python/wsh/C++/java/C#/etc); and any tools that are industry standards. A strong fundamental knowledge (concepts, theories, how things work) is what keeps many of us alive in this field.
BTW – you might want to look into vmware (virtual machine), that way you can run different OSs at the same time:

Another thing that might interest you is a certificate. The thing about certifications is that not every company understands them, sometimes in an interview a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) is no different than a CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) in their eyes. Some people also see those as red flags – an indication that they have no real strong technical background. There’s always two things people like to see in an interview: what you’ve been working on + xx years of experience, so try to focus on that.
