No service pack 2 ,is the answer to the poor windows OS flaws,which like you stated,it does fix some viruses problem but it is not designed to do that but to close the gaps left by Microsoft designers… to go back in and allow virus makers put a virus in your system, thus , buy virus protection. now the only reputable protections come from symantec with the name of Norton anti virus.However, service pack 2, if is not in your windows OS, you need it, so by going to the Microsoft site, you can down load it for free, then install ,done.
If you want to do a clean install of Winodws XP yes. If youo just want to clean your drive of virisus and such, let me know I’ll send links.
Yep that will definitely do it. Just make sure you choose full format when you reinstall windows. Also be carefull what you save from your old system you never know what the virus has attached itself to.
Not really. That is just an upgrade CD, which means you have to have an original ms install CD in order for that disk to even install. Having said that, you can use your original Cd’s to ‘restore’ you computer to factory defaults. Neither Windows XP nor sp2 will prevent/repair any virus on any computer. That job is done by Various anti-virus and anti-spyware software. A good firewall (not the one included with XP SP2) is also a necessity.
