I’m planning to start fixing computers’ hardware and software problems. I’m not planning to make a company, just smt on my own. I’m not rich so I will not use originall software. Is that going to be illegal? I mean, i’ll not take money for the software, but for the favor.
10x in advance
What if i install downloaded OS and install trial versions software? Is that going to be illegal again?
10x again. I don’t want to mess up with the authorities…
Missed to mention – i will use the S/N from the box i’ll be required to fix.

Use freeware or shareware products that way your legal.
Yes, it is illegal. Copyright lawyers do not care to hear your crying about how it was "as a favor" or "for a friend". But to get in trouble, first you have to get caught.
And you may not get caught for a long while, but you will, eventually. I knew of a small shop that operated like this a few years ago, dealing in original software. They’re not around anymore. Either they got smart and moved out of state and changed the business name, or they are doing time. Either way, sucks to be them.
If you are installing bootleg software, that is illegal. If you are using a bootleg (or copied) disk to repair a legal copy of the software, then it is not illegal. For example, if I have a computer with that had a legal copy of Windows XP, and my hard drive failed, I could legally use an install disk from another computer, and change the key back to my legal key to restore my computer.
If I build another computer, I can not use the copy to install an unlicensed copy of the software.
