   The good thing is that a drastic, sudden change in speed is probably an easy fix. The bad thing is it can be hard to find to culprit.

   When your computer is running slow, bring up your task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and go to the processes tab. Check which processes are slowing down your computer! The important columns to notice are:
   + CPU (percentage of CPU being used by the particular process)
   + CPU Time (total time used by the process, you might have to add this column by going to "View" –> "Select Columns…")
   + The memory and virtual memory

   The two most common ways a process will slow down your computer is by taking up all of the CPU cycles (maintaining a high "CPU" number) or by using up all of your working memory (200,000KB, 400,000KB, etc…).

   I’ve had problems in the past with Firefox, Internet Explorer, SVCHost, HP printer drivers, Adobe products, Antivirus software, windows update, etc., etc., etc…This sort of problem is usually not something to be fixed by defrag/disk cleanup, unless your computer is seriously out of disk space. As long as you have more than a gigabyte free Windows has plenty to work with.

   If you find out what is specifically slowing down your computer, you can probably find a fix online or post the specific problem on here for a better answer.

   I agree with first answer. delete your old files you dont use,

   a couple times in a month I delete dumb things like:

   yahoo messenger ( i never used it)
   aim
   those sample pics & music that come on your computer
   old pics that I uplloaded on fb already
   etc etc.

   delete cookies/temp files remove any progs u dont use or need.. this might help with it put ccleaner on ur puter.

   You tried several things, like registry cleaner, defrag etc.

   Perhaps you should try some different programs.
