I would like to start a filmmaking career, I’m planning in getting the JVC HD200 Pro camera, but i’m not sure what kind of computer equipment to get in order to edit my project. I would like to use a good editing software maybe Vegas and use After Effects. Can some body point me in the right direction?
Don’t mind the cost, I need to know what I need.
Should this be ok?

I took your advise and looked at the Mac Pro computers, and they look pretty good. I customized it like so: Would this work? it goes for about ,700.

I never used vegas but i used after effects and it’s amazing and a highly recommend it.
and your computer is more then good enough to work with after effects
if i were you i would focus on getting more ram 1 2gig ram stick is around $60 try to max out the slots and get a better graphics card which is around $130
i have 2.2 ghz processor with 3gigs of ram and a geforce 9600 gt series and after effects is a little slow when importing videos
you got an amazing processor though
i wouldn’t get a graphics card higher then 512mb
you can if you want to but it is not necessary
sounds sweet maybe upgrade your graphics card to a 512mb card because they are pretty cheap now.
Even better option get a mac. They are very good for editing and i hear they come with very good built in software for editing videos and photos.
Professionals Use a Mac Pro with Final Cut Pro for video editing, and Soundtrack Pro for the Audio.
You’re going to be pushing it with the RAM and smaller buffer in the hard drive, otherwise you’ll be okay. You may see a lot of slow-downs. Just make sure your editing software can utilize multiple cores. That’s where you will see large speed increases.
good luck with that one
i would recommend a panasonic hxv200
and have you heard of an apple?

Should kick lots of butt for a video editing machine.
Well, this looks pretty much OK. But if you want to make the best out of it, I would suggest you to do the followings:

I had to type my suggestions with the large fonts to let you notice them, I didn’t pay attention to the price as you wanted me.
This system would really rock….
hope it helps.
