I’m continuing this question I had, because I haven’t figured out.
I have gotten rid of a few virus, and spyware/malware stuff. Spybot, Adaware, and AVG have done their part. I installed Eusing registry cleaner … and it cleaned it up good.
I had this problem before I did these things, it’s the only thing I haven’t figured out the remedy to. Ok, it’s freezing at startup. IT was freezing both at start, and at shutdown. Now, I have run those programs and PC-Doctor 5 and it didn’t show anything wrong with the graphics, motherboard, etc. I did all the tests.
What do I do next. How do I determine what it is next?
Thanks, I’ll award an answer!

You could try starting it in safe mode and then using msconfig eliminate 1-2 startup programs at a time and then restart computer. Keep doing this until you find what program is messing it up.
If you have your XP disks, try a repair. Boot with disk, when prompted press ‘R’ for repair.
When a PC freezes at Startup, only two things come to mind — a faulty PC or RAM overload. Let’s eliminate the RAM overload to see if that does the job. Here is my checklist which I run through at least every two weeks.
1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none — they run continuously in the background and use memory.
—–right-click on the desktop, select Properties
—–click the screensaver tab, on the left where it says "screensaver," select none.
—–click the desktop tab, for background, select none
2. Review your start menu – remove anything you don’t need on a daily basis — load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.
—–click Start, Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu
—–click the Start Menu tab
—–select a program you do not want to load at Startup, then click remove.
—–Caution — do not touch anything you are not sure of or you will mess up your computer royally.
3. From Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)
—– These actions will clear your computer’s cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/access/access-27210.html )
4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).
—–These can be found in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run — then type ipconfig renew
(that’s ipconfig space renew).
6. Optional: Speed vs Goodies — in the Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance, Settings — you can have visual effects or let Windows select the best options. I am using “Best Performance.” Your choice.
These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.
It will also help if you download two free programs: Ad-aware and Spybot .

Could be a problem with device drivers , hardware or software . This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html
delet all ur other virus programs bc they can be causeing the viruses if u get them from a bad sorce. Some are just bad all together. use AVG free addition only my computer guy who works for a big corrprit company that uses computers all day told me that was the best. If it still does that after u scanned ur computer their could be something else going on u should get someone to help u in that case.
you have too many programs running at start up, and too many programs trying to shut down simultaneously and shutdown, so thi is what u gotta do, go to start menu, start up, and delete the stuff u dont need, then go to control panel, add remove hardware, and delete programs that are unnecesary, or u dont use/ need
many times that can be traced to a mangled driver .. maybe the video .. maybe uninstall and update ur video driver ..
how much overall system RAM do you have and how large of a pagefile do you currently have? Both of these will hang your system up at startup for a moment or so if they are insufficient.
try the crucial memory scanner and see if it suggests you add memory, etc. They also give you an idea of prices
