In the 1st place , did u remove the trojan ? If not do it 1st. If you know the name of the trojan , find the specific removal tool (something like stinger) for it and run it.Otherwise restoring might not help you
First of all, why are you using a recovery console instead of System Restore?
Boot up into safe mood, run system restore…I personally think that it’s not worth the time trying to run command prompt and manually copying .back files…if it were me, I’d either system restore, load AVG Pro Antivirus to wipe trojans, enable task manager to end trojan process, or backup important data and format the drive. And to the P.S, Just burn the sp3pack iso into a bootup disk? Nero should do the trick. Google. You can make an external drive a virtual cd-crom drive using magic disc, (google again), and mount the iso, set up boot options and then when starting up pc choose the external drive to boot. other then that, id go with a clean format…
the idea with bak files is that you open the original application and import them. Also it may be possible to go the other way and find the bak file in explorer, right click and see whats available in the context menu. eg reg files have merge available.
to find bak files search for *.bak
I checked my XP Pro and those files listed above are in my C:\windows\repair folder.
remember you looking for a file, not a folder.
Any way that line is supposed to be typed into the command prompt. What happens after you hit enter?
Ah ah, I just remembered. To use the XP repair console from an older XP disk you first have to uninstall SP3 from the computer. How you do this I dont know, however MS has a procedure for it.
I suggest to boot into safe menu (F8) and select last known good
May be too late, but this saved my system once. Best of luck to you.
