Doublemyspeed.com (DMS) is a registry cleaner by Cyberdefender.
The Cyberdefender company is known for it’s anti-virus program and services, and that they are orientated to the non-technical user. The same is true for DMS, it very easy to use, and comes with a 24/7 computer help line. I used this help line once already and I was very happy with the service and customer support person that I dealt with.
On the Yahoo.Finance link in the sources, you will see that Cyberdefender is on the NASDAQ, and just hired a lot of executives from Symantec, IBM and NutriSystem® as well as several joining the Board of Directors.
In general, DMS is a registry cleaner that eliminates broken links in the registry, but the main focus is that of getting rid of any malware ‘hiding’ in your registry. In theory, this cleaning will speed up your computer since it will run faster if the malware is eliminated.
The free trial software will find all the problems, but you will need to buy the program ($40) if you wish to fix them. This is typical nowadays for most software.
I have used both the Cyberdefender Registry Cleaner and their antivirus software, and have been happy with it.
This site has a full series of screenshots on DMS and how it works:

This site has a bunch of Cyberdefender Reviews that give some details:

You do not need a registry cleaner, all they do is delete info they think is obsolete from your registry. This won’t speedup your pc or fix any problems. If a registry cleaner deletes something necessary then you could have real problems. No computer needs a registry cleaner, and you won’t find anywhere any documentation of how a registry cleaner improves performance or what it does in relation to fixing anything. You’ll just find vague claims and bogus computer mumbo jumbo. Those "errors" doublemyspeed found aren’t errors at all, just maybe some obsolete registry entries that are totally benign.
You will need to clean your computer regularly of registry errors, but there is no need to install a program. Search for a portable registry cleaner on google.
FYI I use CCleaner, mainly because I do a lot of web browsing and loads of temporary internet files get on to my computer. CCleaner has a registry cleaning function as well as cleaning out useless files from your computer. Give it a go
doublemyspeed is a scam

you must clean the registry for errors .there are so many free registry cleaners are available as free
eg:CCcleaner,wise cleaner
I recoment using "CCleaner" it will clean your computer, and if need be, registry. It is free.
doublemyspeed.com is itself a site rife with viruses and other malware.
I would do a scan immediately with your own anti-virus software.
No. You do not need a Registry Cleaner in 95% of cases, unless there is an actual corruption with the registry that you don’t have the technical knowledge to manually repair.
Most registry "errors" are benign and do not affect the performance of your computer in any way.
No you don’t need it.
I had better luck with Registry Easy. I downloaded the application they promote on the doublemyspeed site and Registry Easy found more problems. After I completed this, my damn Vista computer finally ran better. I swear, I am so close to going back to XP Pro. Vista just flat sucks. If I knew anything about Windows 7, I would consider it, but I am not sure how reliable it is.
