I agree with "Che jrw" also you should re-install your OS every 6 months for the best
not really….
I use Spybot Search and Destroy
Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware
and Zone-Alarm as a firewall
and my computer is virtually problem free (it will probably take it’s last breath tonight now that I’ve said that).
http://www.download.com is a great site for researching free cleaners and most computer related software as you can sort by product reviews and positive responses.
no and in my opinion using a registry cleaner is the quickest way to force urself into a reformat …. i NEVER use them and all my pcs’ run great …
not necessary….but you can if you know that your registry is really messed up with too much programs that have been installed and uninstalled.
that you can also do without a Registry Cleaner.

It’s not necessary, but it certainly helps.
Every time you install or uninstall a program on your computer, changes are made to the registry. These changes are supposed to get kept track of, but they frequently get lost – meaning the longer you have your computer the more ‘loose ends’ there are in your registry. Malware of varius types also embed extra junk in your registry.
The more accumulates there, the slower your computer will behave, as it has to sort through all the junk to get to the things it needs.
Eventually, there will be so much junk you need to re-install windows. That is inevitible. But a registry cleaner can greatly increase the amount of time before that happens.
