you def. need to clean up your files and registry , everyone does just makes everything run faster and smoother — try downloading CCLEANER its free and will clean everything – also ADWARE2007 is free – as far as finding out your ram download CPUZ it will tell you everything you need to know … hope this helps , good luck
registry cleaner is better than system restore it clean all your registry and don’t delete your other program. but if you want to restore your computer in the first installed date it’s better to use system restore. 504mb means your built in video adapter was 8 mb this is use by your video card to work. Try to open your computer and get the memory if it has two slot it was SDRAM and if it has one slot it was DDR.

Cookies:
i don’t recommend deleting cookies!
rather,MANAGE your cookies,see how

Temp File:
using Disk Clean, you can empty these files in both XP & Vista
I recommend deleting your pre-fetch files at least weekly.
these are files that are copied to your temp folder anytime you open/use anything.
wordpad,email,websites,ect.
this is set up so your computer can find the software, application or website faster
but…in order to get the newest version of any website using this "cached" method
you need to refresh the page
in my opinion, this is counter-productive and wastes my time!
delete those files weekly
XP & Vista:
start
my computer [ Vista is just computer ]
local disk drive [c]
Vista may be o.s. [c]
windows
temp
click file
click select all
press delete key on keyboard

A registry cleaner is not a necessarily a registry backup program. A cleaner goes into the registry and "cleans" out any unused links, pointers, etc. It can, depending on how it was written, do both functions, that is clean and back up.
A backup does just that, backs up the registry files. That is what system restore does, it backs up your registry and will allow you to restore it.
System restore is an XP or Vista system software that will automatically/manually backup you registry. This is useful if you install some software and your system has problems, you can go into system restore and pull out the last registry backup. It allows you to also manually backup your registry. It has NO clean up function.
Don’t waste time on any free online registry cleaner cuz they tell you they’ve cleaned some of your registry and you need to buy the retail version to clean the rest. I ran one of them once after using Error Nuker, one of the best registry cleaners money can buy and they said a bunch of crap even thou my registry was error free! Just try a system restore if you dont have a retail cleaner. You have 8MB onboard video using some of your ram so thats why you show 504. You can go here and see what your upgrade options are–just click on "scan my system" while on computer in question:
http://www.crucial.com
Well since your onboard graphics is only 8MB and it appears your max ram is 512, your rig is kind of old maybe?
Consider buying a new one.
you don’t need to open your pc to find out the kind of ram you have, just go to http://www.crucial.com and let it scan your system. it will tell you what you have, what your upgrade options are, and a retail online price for the upgrades possible. you can use this info then to shop for better prices locally.
system restore and registry cleaners do different things really. registry cleaners get rid of entries it deems no longer useful, ‘orphans’, etc. system restore returns your windows environment to the way it was on a previous date, including the registry, device drives, etc., but *not* including restoration of emails or deleted files.
ps if you have 512 ram installed and the system is reporting 504, the difference is in use by the video card – "shared ram".
You will need to take your cover off your computer to find out what kind of ram it has, and to put it in. Registry cleaner would be better because System restore, it may delete some stuff you don’t want deleted.
Using a registry cleaner is a good option, as it will reduce your need to do System Restore. You can find some good registry cleaners here:
