Hmm… I’m not a big fan of blindly trusting 3rd party tools to solve all my issues. How do I know they aren’t installing their own viruses?
I’ve been having the vlaze problem lately, and I discovered a rogue copy of lsass.exe in my c:\windows directory. Normally, it’s a key windows process, but this one appears to be a fake and a virus. In taskmanager you’ll see 2 copies of lsass.exe, one is real, the other isn’t. If you go into your registry (or msconfig) you can remove the call to c:\windows\lsass.exe from the run line, then move the file out of the directory, reboot, and then delete the thing.
You will know the bad one as if you get properties on the file it will list itself as some kind of "spyware removal module". Gee, now that doesn’t sound fishy at all….
Try this, its free and does a lot deeper scan than most.
