http://www.eusing.com This is a free reg cleaner. I don’t thank cleaning out twenty or 30 entries in a registry of many thousands really makes any difference, but I have used this one for months and at least it does not SEEM to do any harm. On the same site you can also download a free WINDOWwasher that deletes temp files, erases browser history (IE&Firefox). Clearing out the temps probally does more good than the reg. cleaner. If you are trying to get your speed back, De-fragging the disk will help too. you can use the utility that comes with Windows,or there is a free utility called "IObit Smart De-frag" at http://www.iobit.com Ps# DUNE has pretty much hit the nail on the head. One thing though,if it a speed thing, and if you are on dial-up,and if you can get cable..Brother it is a whole new world!
LOOK I want to change what I said! Just download CCleaner! I did, it has a reistry utility in it,plus a really nice cleaner for window, and both Firefox and IE! One program does the work of at least two! ITS FREE
You can try CNET (downloads) they might have a ‘free’ registry cleaner………………
Just go to any shareware site such as http://www.tucows.com.
There are several programs:
1. Pc Health Organiser
2. Registry Mechanic
3. Registry Defender
etc…
These are all sharewares.
I am sure there are plenty other free softwares available. Perhaps you should do a search and see what people are saying about them. In my experience, registry cleaner doesn’t really work that well. As Abdan-Noor has mentioned below, if you are trying to regain speed on your computer, there are other ways to do it. However, short of reinstalling your windows from a clean and empty harddrive, I have not found anything that actually makes a big difference in terms of regaining computer performance. If you have found anything that actually works well, please let us know too! Good luck!
