Boot the computer with the XP CD in the cd-rom drive. Go through the menus… Delete all partitions, create a new partition, choose to format the drive (don’t select the quick format), install windows. Very easy to do if you have the XP CD and its bootable. To have the computer boot from the CD-ROM drive, press the F2 key or DEL key on the computer when you turn on the computer. This will get you into the BIOS where you can change the boot order. Make sure the CD drive is above the hard drive…
Well its very easy just format everything, then insert the xp disk and it will boot from it
The easiest way is to put the Windows XP CD in the drive, and begin the installation process.
During the install process, the application will ask you if you want to create any new disk partitions, or delete a current one. This would be where you would delete the current partition, thus erasing it, and allowing you to create a new one which is newly formatted.
This is easier and less time consuming than formatting the drive first, and then putting in the Windows CD.
In addition, you generally run into less problems this way, and have an alternative to fallback to if something goes awry.
