I put the skills all on one line. The skills are there for recruiters who don’t know crap about technology. All their going to do is hit ctrl-f and type in what they have in front of them to search your resume. as long as the word they are looking for is somewhere in your resume you’re good.
I put this section at the bottom so they can search for it there.
Once you are past the Recruiter and HR idiots is where the rest of your resume is important. The interviewer should have some knowledge of your job and is going to look more at your experience than anything.
When I give an interview I just ask 10 or so technical questions then usually give the fizz-bang test. I refuse to use recruiters and tell HR to just send me all the resume’s they get so I can sort through them myself.
The fizz-bang test is easy… Write a program in any language which prints the numbers from 1 to 100. if the number is divisible by 3 print "fizz" instead of the number. if it’s divisible by 5 print bang. If it’s divisible by both print "fizz-bang"
believe it or not, 95% of my applicants fail this test. seriously… the other 5% look at me funny and say the test is too easy….
