What Marvin wrote. They’re a waste of time.
If you want to improve the performance of your PC then you have some options. Uninstall old programs. Delete old files you don’t use anymore or back them up to an external hard drive. Run only the programs you need and close the ones you don’t. Have as few programs start when Windows boots as possible. That means going into the options of all your IM programs and such and unchecking the option that has them start when Windows starts.
Run disk clean up on your hard drives to get rid of temporary files. Analyze your hard drives with disk defragmenter. Defragment if it says to. Scanning with an up to date anti-virus and anti-malware programs wouldn’t hurt either.
Run Windows Update and make sure you have all the latest critical updates and service packs.
If those don’t help then you could always start over. Copy all the files you want to keep to an external hard drive then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. Most PCs come with a utility to restore it to factory default. The instructions to do it will be in the user’s manual. If you don’t have a copy you can download one from the manufacturer’s website. Just search their support section for your model number.
I would say the best software fix-it software (which is $30) but is better than advanced system care but if you want advanced system care (which is free) here

Have you tried Ccleaner? http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner I use it all the time and have found that it is very effective. And it is free.
Registry cleaning is a waste of time.
It won’t make any difference to your computer performance.
If you really want to use one then get ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com
Its free.
(but – as you will find out – it won’t improve the performance of the PC at all)
