Clean Registry and Optimize PC
Insert the Windows CD/DVD into your CD/DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press a key to start the computer from the Windows CD/DVD.
Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD/DVD drive if you are prompted.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press ‘R’ to start the Recovery Console.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If you don’t know the administrator password, there probably isn’t one so just press Enter/Return.
At the command prompt (C:\>), type
chkdsk /r
(note the space between chkdsk and /r)
and press Return/Enter.
When the scan finishes, re-start.

Start up repair with a Windows disc should replace the file, it just may take a while to run. If you got impatient and canceled out of the operation or rebooted your machine, you should give it another go and let it run all the way through. If it doesn’t work then, however, you may have no choice but to reinstall windows from scratch. If your laptop is still under warranty, you can contact the manufacturer for a recovery disc, or they can help guide you through a factory reset using a recovery partition on your hard drive, which is what you most likely have.
