The best free registry cleaner is probably "CCleaner" but if you want to use any of these types of tools, it’s much more effective to actually invest ~$30 into a tool that is able to fix the largest number of problems.
Unfortunately, CCleaner does not fix a whole lot of registry errors and therefore does not have many benefits for use on your PC. You’re best off using a registry cleaner such as "Frontline Registry Cleaner" which is able to find and fix the largest number of errors. You can read about this tool at http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/best_registry_cleaner_tools.html

The problem your computer has seems a little serious. In my opinion, just a free anti-malware isn’t enough to solve your problem. And your Chrome crashes may be caused by the virus. You’d better fix it thoroughly as early as possible.
Did you once backup for your system when it is health? If the answer is "NO",I guess you have to reinstall system. If "yes", it will be much easier .You just need to restore back. So backup is usually very important.
I am using a backup software which is pretty good. You can create a snapshot for your system when it is fine. If there is something wrong with your computer later, you just need to choose a restore point .Then your system will restore back to the good condition as the snapshot records.
You can download the free trial version from:http://www.disk-utilities.com/system-restore/
Give it a try!
