Did you try reseting video card in BIOS back to its original setting or reset BIOS to default and go from there
Or use Hirens Boot cd and restore MBR master boot record
Ok. I can’t believe anybody else would have this problem. First of all, IT IS NOT YOUR HARD DRIVE, So don’t go out and waste your money. This exact same thing happened to me. It is somewhat of a difficult problem to address, but i know for a fact that it isn’t your hard drive. What i ended up doing was finding a vista install cd and booted from the CD and reinstalled vista, but that didn’t work. I would try that first. At the end, I got a vista cd and pulled the hard drive from my pc and installed it on another, older, computer that still had SATA. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments. I know how frustrating it is and i wanna help!
Sounds like you corrupted your hard drive. Any time you hit the power or reset button to stop or restart your computer, you run a definite risk of hard drive corruption. There is most likely no physical damage to the drive.
If you can beg/borrow/steal a vista or XP CD you can boot into the "Recovery Console" (DOS Command prompt) and type:
chkdsk c: /p
This will most likely fix the problem.
