I use the same cleaner I use to clean my eye glasses. You can buy it at any vision center or walmart. I figure if its safe enough for my glasses then its safe enough for my TV’s & computer screens
Bloodsong gets best answer! Oh, I don’t get to choose. /cry
His answer and cautions are accurate based on suggested methods by LCD manufacturers. The material is fairly fragile and prone to scratching.
Just as a side note: any electronics or office supply store sell kits for just this purpose — with a soft, lint-free cloth and an appropriate cleaning solution.
1 part isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to 10 parts distilled or reverse osmosis water. Apply it to a clean, soft cloth and then wring it out until it is just damp. Wipe the screen gently in one direction only. If it’s very dirty you may need to repeat the procedure.
Never put the solution directly on the screen and do not use paper towels, kleenex, or washcloths as they scratch.
Okay this is what i do. You take a clean rag/washcloth and you spray windex on it and keep spraying it on the rag when you feel theres not enough left to finish cleaning the screen.
P.S- Dont spray the windex on the screen itself, it might leak onto your laptop and ruin it.
Try alcohol on a cotton ball. Don’t use glass cleaners, bad for LCD screens. I tried lens cleaner cloths but they don’t work well.
there are electronic wipes made for that. check your local target, etc
OH DEAR GOD NO! DO NOT EVER USE ALCOHOL OR COTTON!
Okay that out of the way.
The LCDs used on laptops and T.V.s more correctly TFTs or TFT LCDs (Thin Film Transistors) are highly sensitive to any abbrasives.
Get yourself a SOFT LINT-FREE cloth, turn of the monitor and disconnect the plug, gently wipe the entire screen in a singular direction (Top to Bottom) until the majority of the dust is removed.
If you need a better cleaning than just dusting, still using a soft Lint-Free cloth, you may use a mild-non abassive cleaner diluted with water.
Most computer monitor manufacturers have maintenance instructions on their websites and in their owner’s manuals. Several of them include a clause which will void your warranty if you use alcohol, vinegar, sunglass/glasses cleansers or other such chemicals.
Although a diluted mixture of Rubbing Alcohol and Distilled Water, as distilled water as no harsh minerals left in it, are often effective, check your owner’s manual first.
Also note their are many alcohol-free cleaning solutions for TFT LCDs on the market.
Remember to use alcohol-mixtures as a last resort in cases of uncertainty. Remember also to only use a light misting of any liquid and wipe immediately.
