Your best bet for getting rid of programs on your harddrive is to just delete them. To do this go to
Start>Control panel>Add or Remove Software
There you get a good look at everything installed on your computer just delete the ones you don’t want or use.
Also just to answer the question, Cleaning your harddrive isn’t like cleaning the counter. where you can just go around your stuff. If you want to completely wipe it, you have to move the programs and files you want. Then do it. If you want to do this without much hassle I suggest you buy a Thumb Drive (USB). It’s really easy, just connect it to your computer through a USB then click and drag what you want to keep. Then wipe and re-add it.
Also something else you can do for space is go to
Start> Programs >Accessories > Disk Cleanup
It takes up to 20 minutes sometimes but it removes all your old cookies and everything that gets saved on your computer randomly.
There is disk defragment and disk cleanup you go to start menu then all programs then accessories then systems tools click on those to and follow the directions they don’t erase stuff you use because it’s already saved in your documents and it doesn’t mess with that stuff just old cookies and what not that you won’t use anyways keeping track of web sites you went to.
