   Disk Cleanup–This tool allows you to clean up compressed and unnecessary files collected during Windows operations. Windows has deemed these files safe to delete. This files can be anything from your temporary internet files to programs no longer in use.

   HOW TO:

   1. Click Start
   2. Programs
   3. Accessories
   4. System Tools
   5. Click Disk Cleanup.

   Next you can clean your errors with a registry. Cleaner do a scan of your computer registry and see what you pull up. The page below will give you more info on how to clean up your computer.

   1. Run the Disk Clean-Up Utility located under-Programs-Accessories-System Tools- Disk Clean Up.
   2. Run Check Disk-Open my Computer-Right Click C Drive-Select Properties-Select Tools-Select Error Checking.
   3. If problems still exist, use a spy remover program such as this- Spysweeper by Webroot.
   4. If errors still exist after the sweep, get a registry cleaner.
   Use Google to find free or trial software for this. key words "registery cleaner"

   you can go to system tools and do a scan disk
   you can also dump a lot of temp internet files by going to system tools and doing a disk clean up
   you can go to control panel and open internet options
   there you can dump temp internet files and dump cookies.

   after I do this I open my adware and scan for boogies and dump them then I restart the pc. this speed up that pc pretty good.

   First off, go to your cookies folder and delete them all. You can do a search for all files that include the word "cookie" and that will bring up all of the cookies. Don't delete words that say "cookie" that aren't cookies.

   Then go to merijin.org and check out their page. They have lots of free ways to get infections off of your machine.
   Then use spybot to clean up malware, then go to free,grisoft.com and download the best free antivirus software available.

    Go into add remove hardware and get rid of the programs you don't use. It will help a lot!

    Go through the "My Documents" folder and delete anything you don't need. Then, go to the control panel and Add/Remove Programs via:
    Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

    use that utility to uninstall any program or application that you don't or won't use. After that, you can go to:

    Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup

    It will run a scan for you and tell you about anything that coul be taking up extra hard drive space and slowing you down. Run whatever you are willing to, but you should be safe with every option because you'll mostly be turning off Windows features that you don't use.

    Next, go to http://www.ccleaner.com/ download and install Ccleaner. After you are finished installing it, run the cleaner on default setting. After the cleaner completes it's work, go to the Registry tab. Tell it to fix all registry problems and make a backup of your registry, if anything goes wrong after the fix you can reinstate your old registry to fix it.

    After all of that go to:

    Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

    Run the defrag which, depending on the size and speed of your hard drive will take between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

    Whenever these steps aren't good enough to solve my problems I always reformat.
