   ok go to google and type in free virus protection trials, they have norton trial I think for 90 days and a few other good ones,if you go for the norton and have had it on your computer you will have to remove all the software associated with it.

   to remove the norton go to the site http://www.symantec.com/autotools

   any other virus protection software I guess youll have to remove from your actual pc manually. GOODLUCK

   I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy a spyware killer for years. I have recently added superantispyware. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

   majorgeeks .com–top right hand side info box–topfreeware picks –has a list of all u need –all are tested and free to use —dont use more than one antivirus app at one time or u will crash ur pc

   Both of those are completely 100% free for personal use and I would recommend either. I prefer AVG though.

    AVG virus scanner has a free one you can download online
    I have had that one for years and I have never gotten a virus
