   look at the specs of your computer, it can only go as fast as the CPU can process data and amount of memory it has, all the others help to contribute. Like the cache on the hard drive for file swapping, and the rpm of the drive helps.
   5 Common problems that slow a PC down:
   1. cluttered registry
   2.too many startup programs
   3. full hard drive
   4. not enough memory
   5. malware / spyware
   Remove unwanted startups programs and replace with a shortcut on the desk top.
   Microsoft defrag, requires 17% of free space to defrag, so if you have less than that it will consider your drive full.
   tidy your registry, delete browsing history, cookies, temp internet files.

   You can clean your temporarly internet files, go to Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs.

   You can go to "Start" "Run" type "msconfig" and click on "StartUp" click on any programs you think you don’t need. You should only have maybe 2 to 3 necessary programs running.

   Likewise you can go to Start, Run, then type "services.msc" and click on Automatic and see which ones you don’t need.

   If its still slow and you still need it to run faster, an occasional format could help, as long as you backup your information.

   system restore is no substitute for a fresh install as windows accumulates junk files over the years.

   failing that more memory allways helps. but you can disable a lot of programs from starting up or trying to access the internet to update or cause trouble. make sure you’ve checked for spy/malware using different programs and uninstall stuff you dont use or may have collected like toolbars.

   lots of freeware you can use like spybot, startupcpl, ccleaner, revo uninstaller
