Sorry, but if you are asking this question, you might not know enough about computers to do this by yourself without messing up. Read up on it beforehand or get someone else to do it.
Have your computer boot up using your Windows XP CD, and when it asks if you want to boot with CD, press a key. There it will give you options as to what you want to do. Reformat your C drive, and then install XP.

This website explains it pretty well.
If you are doing a clean install then don’t worry about wiping out your harddrive. During the installation process Windows will give you an option to remove the partition, create a new partition then format it with NTFS before it installs the new operating system. This wipes out the harddrive before installing the new operating system.
When you boot to the Windows CD it will give you the opportunity to delete the existing partition on your hard drive, by deleting the partition you will delete everything in it so you have your clean install.
When you put in your XP CD
It will give you the option to Format
the HD.
G’Day
Insert your XP install disk and let it run.
When it tells you that it has found an existing operating system and do you want to leave the file system intact or format it, choose Full NTFS Format.
