4 Ways to Speed Up Your Computer’s Performance
http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/getstarted/speed.mspx
4) Update your drivers
5) Reduce resources needed for protection:
Replace Norton with NOD32, AVG, Avast, etc.
Use the Windows Firewall (very light on resources)
6) Add more ram
7) Faster video card
8) Faster Internet service
9) Faster computer / processor
10) Format drive and reinstall everything
Do the following:
defrag
spyware scan
adware scan
anti virus scan
do an msconfig:
(Start->run->msconfig-startup-> disable all)
If this does not help
add ram
change the RAM and increase the RAM size
Well, you have your options:
1. Delete programs/files/documents that are of no importance to you anymore
2. If your computer is old enough, you have to install more RAM (1 GB recommended; it’s the new standard)
3. Do a scan with an anti virus/anti spy program that is in your possession (and IS installed on your PC, nonetheless), and see if there’s a nasty series of viruses/malware clogging up your system
4. If all else fails, it’s time to get a new computer.
Good luck!
do a disc clean up this will remove all the unnesecary downloads that are slowing your computer down. if not try a system restore
There are many ways to speed up a computer. The most commmon of them being a lack of RAM(Random Access Memory) or a slow/faulty Processor. RAM is like a short term memory for a computer, it stores all the immediate processes, if you lack this it will take time for your computer to free up space to run a new application. The processor could also be a problem, this is the bit in the computer which decodes information and encodes it, almost like a nerve center, if this is slow/faulty your computer will overall have low performance. Or of course you may just have a virus. If you do have one or are suspecting you have one, you can always just download "AVG Antivirus" and run it, it will fix any problems. to change RAM without knowing a thing about the inside of computers can be tricky, so I reccomend you take it to somewhere like PC World and ask them to change it for you, ditto for the processor. Most computers now days have about 1.5GB RAM and a 3.2GHZ processor.
hope that helps!!!
The first thing that you should do is make sure that you don’t have viruses, adware or spyware. These can all slow your computer down drastically, even if all components work perfectly.
Grisoft offers a free anti-virus program called AVG Free.
Lavasoft offers free Adware removers. Get Adaware SE.
Next you want Spybot Search & destroy.
All of these are free downloads. The first time you run them you may be shocked at the amount of crap on your PC that you never put there. We had one friend who had well over 200 spyware programs alone.
Run Disk Defragmenter. Go to START and scroll up to PROGRAMS. then go up to ACCESSORIES. look for DISK DEFRAGMENTER. Running it takes a lot of time but its worth it. Click on MY COMPUTER on your desktop and right click the HARD DISK icon. Choose proprities and look for disk clean up and error check.
Do what quarme wrote AND install a virus scanner if you don’t already have one. I like avast, which you can download here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
if you dont mind losing your existing files you should reformat your computer and start from scratch, use the reinstallation cd that u usually get with your computer and reformat your hard drive.
take it into a pc place u need more memory and a bigger hard drive thats why it is slow hope u get it fix
It depends on what’s wrong it.
*Clean the spyware that may be on it.
*Add RAM (If you have less than 512 MB, you NEED to upgrade RAM)
*Defrag the hard disk
These are some of the more common ways to improve performance.
download this cleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
use it to clean ur system and uninstall softwares u dont use and get an external hard disk or flashkey and save some or your files there
Add RAM.
get rid of screen savers..they slow down the computer
reinstall the original windows..I have windows xp and took everything off my hard drive and reinstalled the windows xp home edition..this brought back the speed of my computer..but i should have more memory as I run 128 for ram and it should be 256 or 512 would be better but I am not going to spend two hundred dollars on a six year old computer..even with 128 ram..it is fast enough once i got rid of a lot of stuff that was just slowing down my computer.
also ..defrag the hard drive occasionally and run a program called Ad-Adware by Lavasoft..a free service offered via the internet..good luck
