hi, perhaps you can try norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for that.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

Maybe you did not clean up your temporary internet files. It takes up virtual memory or you running to much programs.
Change how programs that are load to your start up menu. Some programs use up alot of memory…but keep the ones that are important like virus scanner, firewall software or anything that is a security software.
run your disk sweeper you will find that in accessories and system tools, clear your history, tools and internet options, go into "run" and type in msconfig and click on selective start up so your computer will only be running the basic thing you have to have, anything else you can start up by clicking on the icon or menu.
MY COMPUTER IS ALSO VEERRRY SLOW. GET MORE MEMORY.
There is little we can do but guess at your problem, as you give no information such as the speed of your CPU or your Operating System.
You say you’re running virus checks and spyware checks, but you don’t say with which programs. Some work better than others. I personally run three Spyware/Adware programs which seems to get a lot of the junk. I will list them in case you would like to use them. This combination has been recommended by a large PC Magazine after their own testing.
Adaware SE Personal
Spybot search and Destroy
Microsoft Defender.
Also note that these programs also need to be updated on a regular (weekly) basis before you run scans.
Things that slow down a computer can be more than spyware and adware. There can be a lot of junk programs taking up memory and you can also have problems in how the system is configured.

first delete cookies , windows temp folders, recycle bin and internet temp files. and see the speed is ok
if not
then u r overloaded the softwares in start up menu and desktop items, may be lack of ram memory
so uninstall the software which takes more ram space
ex more one anti virus, uninstall one
your system is probably slow because you are running so many virus and spyware checks. it’s takes ram to produce response time. you could try running the ‘defraging’ program overnight to see if you just have a lot of file scattered, or maybe your computer can be upgraded with more ram.
Try defragmenting it. Sorry I can’t give instructions. But its not hard at all.
you might need some more memory on your computer. you might have to many programs on your computer

If you go to performance and maintenance in the control panel. Free up space on your hard drive then fragment your systems that should speed your computer back
