   get a geeky friend to help you out, it’s much safer than trying to follow guides to the letter that may not cover your situation.

   Are you absolutely sure it’s not a service or program that’s gone awol? do you have a process running that eats up lots of CPU cycles? I know you’ve got a lot of drive space but is your main drive close to full?

   some antivirus programs slow you down because they constantly scan every file you use (that includes all the files the system and programs use just to run). you can usually turn this feature off and stick to scanning incoming files, emails and manually scan removable drives.

   reinstalling windows should be a last resort and if you put on all the same programs, and set it up just like before you can often end up with the same problems, starting and endless cycle of reinstalling to "fix everything"
