My computer is infected with a virus or something of the sort. The virus is popping up on my desktop, saying I need to download this certain virus protection, which is actually fake. The problem is the virus is blocking any searches, websites, or anything that has to do with virus/malware removal. Yahoo is really the only place I can get onto that has some answers about removing this. Please, do all you can to help. Obviously you can't provide me with links to something, unless you tinyurl them (maybe).

Download and scan 1 at a time, do a full system scan with each.
Allright, the first thing you will need to do is reboot your computer. When the first screen comes up, hit the f8 key and it will bring you to another screen. Select boot into safe mode. Then, go to download.com and download malwarebytes antimalware. This is a free program, install it, then scan and delete the viruses. This should work although some viruses may not let you run the malwarebytes installer. In that case, rename the file and then try it again. Hope this works and good luck..
There are a few free programs you should download that will help get rid of – and prevent – you from getting any further viruses, spyware, malware etc. on your computer.
AVG Free – A excellent anti-virus and spyware remover.

MalwareBytes – A great malware removal program.

Ad-Aware – A nice backup program to further help you remove spyware and viruses

Spybot Search and Destroy – An excellent, excellent spyware removal tool.

These programs are not only free, but provide excellent protection against nasty computer bugs. I would recommend installing these programs (you may have to reboot, but install all of them first, then reboot), then running each one. There's a high probability one of those programs will catch your virus and quarantine it. Spybot also offers real-time protection against spyware, so as soon as it hits your computer, it's gone.
Best of luck.
