I have windows vista, and before i even had it, i always wondered how to clear my registry because i think it is slowing my machine down. I want to clean it up so that my vista os works as fast and efficiently as possible.

i suggest u use vista manager from yamicsoft,i have been using it with my vista for 5 months and it's really cool…it also has many features to control over vista.

they have 15 day trial of fully working version.
The safest and free is:
Microsoft OneCare Live,
run “full service scan” or clean up scan
Full Service Scan:
Updates windows, virus and spyware scan, disk cleanup, disk fragmentation (if needed), backs up registry and then cleans registry, and checks for open firewall ports

there's a whole bunch of registry cleaners, lots free. #1 dont fix it if it ain't broke. #2 be careful registry cleaners are sometimes too good.
Since Vista is a new OS, you shouldn't have too many things in your registry to clean out. The slow down could be due to all the services that loaded with Vista, a slow video card and not enough memory to run Vista properly. Check your Vista Index score : To run Vista well you should have a scores in the high 3's—An Index of score of 4 or more is best. If you want to, you can download the Free CCleaner here http://www.ccleaner.com/ >>> It will clean out all your temp files along and it will fix your registry.
