right click on the drive and choose format
Ok, First you have to ZIP or "PACK" all the files you want to backup, ok here it comes in an easy way:
1) Select all the files you want to backup.
2) Right click on whatever file marked and click on Send it -> Compressed File (ZIP) or something like that.
3) Choose the name of the ZIP file.
4) Then select all your ZIP files and click on Send file -> DVD/CD-R (D:) if that’s your CD burner unit.
5) Click ok
These is the manual way to do it, maybe it help you if you have files like WORD documents or Excell.
Now, you don’t need to backup programs, you should have all the original CD’s so you can install ’em lately.
For completely erase the HD, just insert the Windows OS CD, reboot the computer, press any key to enter the windows installer setup and follow the instructions, be sure to format the HD. When the installation is complete, be sure to install the drivers for you monitor, Audio card, etc.
I know it sounds to you like making a nuclear reactor from the scratch but it’s the easiest way I can tell you right now.
you can use a program like Norton ghost to back up your hard drive, but that is not the effect you want.
in order to clean your hard drive completely, you should wipe your hard drive (re-format) and re-install windows. this means you lose all personal and picture files. programs like internet explorer are bundled in windows. plus you can always download them. this can be a pain though. so you may want to find the installer exe and burn it to cd with a program like nero or just plain old windows. in my opinion, it is best to download newer versions of the programs off of the internet. if you want to save pictures, you can burn them to CD with windows
only re-format and re-install windows if you really think you need to. you can delete everything in the windows setup, or get a secure disk wiper like Norton clean sweep. if you are not sure how to re-install windows, don’t do it. you don’t want to mess it up and have to pay to fix it. if you have a friend who knows how to, have him/her look at and see what they think.
it is very hard to restore a computer back to "new", because files go into your registry. it may take days or weeks of deleting files, even if you know where they are. i recommend re-installiation if you really think you need to. but any important files will be lost
Follow the the instructions on the recovery CD and allow the hard drive to reformat and then reinstall the OS,any programs that you have installed or photos, documents that you want to keep you can save these to CD’S.When you have saved the programs etc that you want then use the recovery CD,it will wipe clean your hard drive and then it will reinstall the factory image, that is to put your computer where it was when you took it out of the box……………
Check out "WindowWasher" by WebRoot.
They’ve got what you want. It’s easy to understand.Just be sure to read the steps and the end result of the steps you might take.
It’s also fairly inexpensive.
You can get it online or at your office supply store.
I’ve been using it for a couple of years.
It will continue to be useful even after the initial cleaning.
-Hope that helps! 😀
first you get your tap water niiiiice and hot… then you add some bubbles… then you dip your hard drive until it stops smoking and buzzing.
no wait… on second thought… maybe you’d better wait and read it from someone who knows for sure.
get a new pc
you can’t backup programs. only the installer. download the installers from download.com or save them to CD.
IE is built in to windows so you can’t get rid of it.
erase hard drive: insert windows cd. reformat. done. now reinstall programs.
