Tell your uncle to get rid of AVG (promises a lot but delivers very little) and also to remove all traces of Norton by using their removal tool…
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/norton2008.nsf/docid/2007082908475279?Open
Follow the instructions to make sure all remnants are removed.
If you want to use a free AV you won’t get better than Avast. As previously mentioned by others, it’s an excellent AV.

You need to download the special Norton removal tool before installing the new anti-virus, AVG 8 is a very poor anti-virus even for free, tell you uncle to install Avast which is also free but much better.

http://www.norton.com
Note: after 30 days you need to register Avast to get your free product key.
you cant have 2 virus protection on your computer at once..your uncle needs to delete and remove the program from not only the start menu but also change/remove program category…then do a search for any folders for anything that remains on computer…once those are deleted…empty the trash bin and restart the computer…check all areas for icons left ….etc….
I had to call Norton to help me remove mine but he can try to go to the control menu then add/remove programs and see if it will unistall if not he will have to call the computers manufacturer and deal with it from there
Norton needs to be uninstalled first get Revo uninstaller its free it will even get rid of Nortons old Registry keys as well.,
Go to symantec and download Norton removal tool, and then download this free and full protection.
Avast 4.8
avira
AVG8. but install and use only one anti virus
comodo firewall pro
malwarebytes anti-malware
SUPERAntispyware
ccleaner and mvregclean to clean your computer.
