You can’t have two soft wares competing for resources. You uninstall the one that is not needed and install the other. After the installation you must reboot the computer and do a disc defrag.
What i did was completely wiped my hard drive with a program called killdisc, just type killdisc into google to find it and download the demo version.
Now in order to do this, you should first copy all your files on your computer to a disc/external hard drive etc, have a windows XP start-up disc at hand to install the operation system, and have burned killdisc to a Cd or DvD.
Restart your pc and press the designated Function key to boot from device, on mine its F8, and select boot from cd (killdisc), Follow the instructions and wipe your hard drive of all information.
After it is completed(which might take several hours) restart your computer and put in your windows xp cd.
Once again boot from cd using the same method above and start the installation.
When i did this, i had a problem with my bios which caused windows to not install because it couldn’t read my hard drive. If you have this problem, access your bios settings, and look for sata mode or sata operation and change it to IDE mode.
If you have anymore questions or are experiencing any problems, you can email me at andrewrm_007@hotmail.com and ill guide you through it
you may need to press the delete key as your computer boots up to enter the bios and then find the setting in the bios that lets you select the boot priority and change it to boot to cd rom first and hard drive second and then press f 10 to save and exit then after your computer boots up restart it again and make sure the windows xp cd is in the drive and as it boots up again it will then say press any key to boot from cd and hit a key and it should boot to the xp cd and let you format and install xp. good luck :oP
get some windex spray it on a towel then clean the window
In order to format for Windows XP:
First you need to backup every single file you have purchased and downloaded via Vista.
Second, download every single XP based driver for your computer. The network drivers may not work after reinstall.
Third after doing all that, put it on a USB thumb drive that’s 2G or higher. You can also use an External Hard Drive too.
Reboot the computer with the XP CD in your CD-ROM Drive. Generally you need to configure your BIOS to have the CD-ROM as your primary boot drive first so go in setup and change the boot protocols. It will then ask for "press any key to use the CD-ROM Drive…"
Then it will ask several questions like starting Format mode to clean the drive out in which you will need to be in DOS prompt. You can’t use the Vista format on an XP install.
Download a program that will wipe Vista off your drive, if your wanting to revert back to XP. There are programs on the net that will turn your computers drive into nothing but a pile of zeros and ones. Then you can reformat it with your master CD.
how are you booting the cd, insert the cd and restart your comp, press any key to boot the cd when you see the prompt on the top of the screen
put cd in…
turn off computer…
turn on computer..
when it says press any key to boot from cd then press something…
then fallow the directions… if u dont know what your doing… id pay someone
and if it dosent show the press any key to booot from cd thing… then u must go to the bios and set it to boot from cd drive first!
You should Format the drive then install xp.
First, you’ll need to get rid of Vista. Format your drive. Then, insert your XP cd into the CD rom tray, and setup will take it from there.
