First you need to find out why it is slow. Your spec seems ok to deal with your activities. You should start by giving it a good clean. The best way to do all cleaning is with ready made softwares made to make it easy for you to clean everything in one click. The two best ones that spring to mind are ashampoo and registry mechanic, you should beable to find free trials for them on download.com.
I would also check your internet speed with speedtest.net, if it’s under 1mb I would get onto your service provider.
Next I would make sure you have uo to date virus protection like norton or macafee. Use them to do a full scan to make sure you do not have any viruses making you computer slow. Also use malwarebytes and spyblaster to get rid of any spywares or walwares on you computer making it slow.
So in a nut shell these are the causes and cures for a slow computer:
Old computer with not enough spec – Upgrade it or get a new one
Cluttered computer – manualy clean or clean with software such as ashampoo / registry mechanic
Virus – Install anti virus software, scan computer and qurantine any found viruses.
Spyware or walware slowing down computer – install animalwate / anti spyware software, scan, quarantine any found
Not enough memory? More than 1meg is gd you have 512 sp could do with an upgrade – upgrade your memory card, either take it to be done or ask pcworld which memory stick you need, open computer and fit it in place of old one ( it’s actually very easy and cheap, see google for directions )
One last thing if your having probls with internet explorer reset it. Go to tools>Internet options>advanced>reset and this will reset in ie as if installed new
Get Tuneup Utilities. It seemed to do a fairly good job with my Toshiba Satellite (even though it’s not the same model type as yours though – it has a bunch of different letters and numbers after it). If you haven’t tried it, get it. It sorts out all your junk files and all your incorrect registry entries and a whole bunch of other stuff. I’ve been using TU since 2008 and I’ve never had a problem with a computer or a laptop that runs it.
you computer is very slow obviously. You should add at least another gig of ram. if your computer to only have 502mb of ram, than you should have a good processor which you do not. next time you buy a computer, get at least 1gig of ram, and at least 2.0 GHz processor. Also, download Malware bytes. its the best
You probably have too much junk spy stuff on it web sights place on it. go to your tools bar and where it says delete, click it and delete all the things you dont need like temp files., also it helps to defrag it every now and then.
just go to search, type in defrag and follow the instructions, this can take hours to do, but helps the speed at the end.
ok. you will need a sledge hammer and 2 stick of dynamite. step 1 hit. step 2 explode
This is because of the computer’s registry. The registry is a very complex and often misunderstood component of Windows. It’s vital to your computer’s operation. Think of the registry as your computer’s brain. And everything you do on the computer, everything you install or remove, is stored in the brain. When you remove things, very often certain registry entries are left behind, like memories. But these memories are good for absolutely nothing.
The registry hangs on to them, though, and eventually it gets so full that it’s hard to find things that are important now. The registry is probably the culprit if your computer freezes randomly.Consequently, one of the best solutions in managing the situation is to use registry cleaning tools http://make-computer-run-smoothly.com with great power and capacity to completely flush out all junk files and fix all errors found.
