some of my laptop key suddenly do not work this morning. I have to use the on-screen keyboard to type "s" "z" and "x" because they don’t work at all. Also, the "s" key randomly will show up sometimes after i type like: "shellsos" if I try to type "hello". If I want to Ctrl+anything, it always tries to save. i tried system restore, searched for malware (found nothing on both safe mode and normal mode using a registry cleaner, and 3 virus malware scanners). i even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard driver. sometimes it will also go ssssssssssssssssssssssss for no reason.
please help. i am using the onscreen keyboard rigth now to type everything and it really takes forever. i have an acer extensa 4420 with vista. 🙁
thsanks in advance!

It sounds like there’s either something stuck underneath the keys themselves, or (more likely) something was spilled on the keyboard that’s causing the circuitry to short, registering incorrect keys and causing other keys to stop working. My guess is that it was a spill, considering all of the malfunctioning keys are clustered together. Not much I can say to you besides talking to Acer and seeing if you can get a replacement keyboard. If you’re under warranty, this shouldn’t be a problem. Otherwise, you’ll probably have to go to your nearest office supply store to pick up a USB keyboard, and use an external keyboard on your computer instead.
