You can try the following-
1) Scan for viruses and spyware , I recommend AVG and Spybot. But dont run two AV programs at the same time.
2) Reduce the number of programs loading at startup. Have only the ones absolutely necessary.
3)Uninstall programs you may never need and also run a diskcleanup and chkdsk. CCleaner is a great diskcleanup program, its free.
4) Defragment. Check your HDD free space. The built in defragger needs atleast 15% free space. But better programs like Diskeeper defrag with as less as 5% free space. Whats more, it can be set to run in the background automatically. You can download the free 30 day trial version here-
http://www.diskeeper.com/defrag.aspx
5)Ensure that your PC has enough RAM, if not upgrade. 1 to 2GB is the bare minimum nowadays.

You can download and scan your computer for free.
Well the best thing to do is buy a new computer or spend money to upgrade the processor speed or RAM of your current computer. If you can’t afford to do that then you must fully optimize the speed of your current computer. The best way to do this is use a program to help. I use one that scans my computer and offers a diagnosis of what is wrong with it. You can scan your computer for free and try it yourself at

The reason the computer gets slow is due to the registry files becoming corrupted, or messed up, in simple terms. These files tell the computer or laptop how to operate the software installed on the system. If any of these files get messed up, the computer is not sure what to do and this will really slow down the computer. The other scenario is where you download other software, screensavers, pictures, videos, or even music, and this will somehow change the settings on a registry file. When this happens, the original program that needs that file now has the wrong instructions in it. So, it will cause the computer to run slow, or in a worse case, crash.
You can speed up your computer with a thorough analysis and repair of your registry. The registry Scan will identify corrupt files, paths, and registry keys causing your computer to have errors and run slow.Go to http://www.registry-bot.com to download registry bot.It is the most advanced and comprehensive registry repair product on the market. It will speed up your computer and make windows startup faster.

uninstall rarely used programs, use disk cleanup which is in performance and maintanence, defragment your hard drive, go to performance and maintenance, go to system, click advanced and check the box that says best for performance, also download an free antivirus like avira to see if have any viruses
Delete anything that is unused or you no longer need. Then run your Disk Defragmenter to sort all of your programs and files into their proper places, as sometimes they get moved around. Also, running your Anti-virus scan could also help as some such viruses could be slowing your computer down as well. Can’t hurt..
if you made a backup disc put that in, than get more ram, or bigger hard drive, or better video card, witchever you think is best than if you have vista, downgrade to Xp and than delete anything like limewire, or u torrent, and delete all viruses (get AVG if you dont want to pay)
OK frst if you download things delete those and then delete pics, items that you don’t need no more!
then go to reyclce bin delete permately then look around and delete things that you dont need.

delete useless programs and use disk cleanup and defrag ur comp once in a while
Below can help you speed up your pc:
1. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools – run Disk Cleanup
2. Temporarily close Quick Launch:
Right-click on the Taskbar, click Toolbars, deselect Quick Launch
3. Open My Computer
Right-click on C:
Click Properties
Click Tools, select Error Check (check all and fix), when finished click defrag & run.
4. Click Start, Run ipconfig -renew (type ipconfig space renew)
5. Restart. Right-click on Taskbar, click Toolbars, select Quick Launch to restore
All these things should be done regularly. The more frequently they are run, the less time they take.
-Note: Games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files. If these suggestions don’t help, you might need more memory.
Last, if you haven’t cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC’s resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Does a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.
