   I would first go to the dell website and download the newest correct driver for your sound card but do not install it. THen remove all the old sound card drivers (having more than one installed can cause conflicts). Then install the new driver. THe dell site has instructions for installing drivers. While you are at it I would also check for other newer dell drivers that might be available for your system.
   The second link has a great free tool to keep all you software up to date. I use it on any windows computers. They do not nag with ads and popups etc.

   You can do it manually and look for a full drivers and get stuck in the same issue
   or you can try to use it

   it will find fix the driver that has full of errors and it will install a new driver and fix all your problems.
