I have heard mixed feelings on cleaning registries. What are your opinions and advice, and if you are for it can you recommend a good registry cleaner without spyware and or virus.

If your PC is running too slow or you are getting too many error messaged from windows that means you need to scan your Windows Registry to clean it and fix the problems.
I won't recommend you to use any Free application to clean the registry as they may harm your system. There are some really good registry cleaners like RegistryFix (www.registryfix.com), PConPoint (www.pconpoint.com). They have a good tech. support too.
normally you dont need to clean your registry until unless it is infected that you will come to know by erors or your computer running slow
use glary utilities for not only registry cleaning but also increasing spyware and trojan security.
download it from http://www.download.com
I agree with Ken. If you have deleted any files or programs, you need to clean your registry, as deleting does not get rid of all of the program. It always leaves small bits of info, after a while it will slow your system down.
most of the horror stories are because cheap cleaners dont really discriminate well enough between useful entries and useless entries, they end up deleting valuable entries.
if you uninstall any programs, alot of their registry entries still remain. theyre dormant, but they bloat up your registry.
i feel that the best way to clean up your registry is to back up your personal stuff (settings, pics, music, presets, etc) and reinstall windows at least once every year and a half or so…start with a clean slate.
