It doesn’t say what year it is when the program starts up. Is there any way to find out? Sorry, Im not so good with computers. Im trying to wipe my computer clean by reinstalling Windows XP home Edition and found an installation disk at work. But when I tried to install it it told me it was an older format and wouldn’t let me install.

From your description, if you are trying to format you should not get that message. You should put the cd in and restart the computer. From there you need to hit a key when prompted and follow the steps. Do not leave the file system in tact (it will ask you if you want to). Remember this will take EVERYTHING off your system.
The reason you are getting the error is more likely than not due to the fact you have updates on your computer. To check a version if you really want to know, right click on my computer, click on properties. It will be on the first tab that shows. This also contains most of your hardware information.
Before you format make sure you have your drivers… otherwise you are going to have trouble.
go to run command if u know wut that is then type dxdiag then press Enter the a message sumtimes shows up if it does press Yes then the PC details will all show up with the complicated version of ur windows info will show up in the list
hope u find this usefull 🙂
