   First I must say that to clean registry manually is with great risk,the wrong deleting or modification in registry will lead a computer crack.The better choice is to use a professional registry cleaner software.
   If you stick to clean it by yourself, the method is:

   Click the "Start" menu button to open the Start menu. Click "Run" Type "regedit" into the text field and press "Enter". Access the many different entries in your Windows XP registry. It is separated into primary sections: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS and HKEY_CURRENT CONFIG. Click the plus to find and delete entries in the registry that you know are either causing conflicts or no longer necessary.

   1) Open up a program called "RegEdit.exe" (its in the Windows folder)
   2) Backup the registry
   3) Look through the registry files
   4) Remove any of the damaged / corrupt files that are in there

   This is how to do it manually, but you’ll soon find that’s almost impossible to clean out all the damaged files that are inside there.    I use Vista Optimizer which has a Registry Defrag Program. I was shocked as it resolved a few issues I had after I ran it. I gave you the link to the Full Featured Version Below.It has a a LOT of tools inside it. I reccomend it to anyone for the man things it does for the OS. It has other functions too that includes a anti-malware program. These features are OFF by Default along with others. I just use it as I need it. I think you will be pleased with this Shareware.
