   Since your PC is Vista-ready, you have to format your hard-drive on which your Vista is installed ( I guess its c: by default) . Since Vista is an higher version of XP, if you insert a XP bootable disk in your CDROM , it wont all you to format and install XP automatically, since Microsoft versions allows you to upgrade automatically but not downgrade the softwares without uninstalling the higher versions. Hence you have to first format your C: drive and then put XP bootable disk, and follow instructions for installing new XP OS.

   Please only format your C: if you have a XP bootable CD or else you will land up formatting the disk and again installing the Vista as a result of non-availability of XP bootable.

   And Yes, I agree with you XP is better than Vista atleast now , untill MS released ServicePacks for Vista 🙂
