By Jim Shutes

It seems that the longer you own your computer, the slower it gets! A lot of people will keep their computer until it gets so slow that they feel they need a newer, faster model. Some feel like the reason it is getting slower is because it is getting older, when that is just not the case. Your computer should run just as fast as the day you brought it home – if you follow these 10 Easy Steps to Speed Up Your Computer.
1. Empty the Temp directory regularly. After a short while, the temp directory fills up with hundreds of temp files that always get scanned over when Windows starts up and when programs launch. This slows everything down immensely.

Clean your Registry can make your computer faster
Most computer users find this task confusing and time consuming and those who are not advanced computer experts run the risk of permanently damaging their system by trying to fix their windows registry manually. Using a registry clean and repair application is the fastest, easiest, and safest way to fix a slow computer. While there are a number of registry repair applications available, few offer a comprehensive set of features that enable you to completely clean your registry safely. It is crucial that you choose a Windows registry repair product that you can trust.

There are many ways to boost performance of your system. A rather more traditional but comprehensive appraoch is to improve hardware and software capability of your system. So you may like to add ram, delete all software’s you don’t use and download Reginout to make your System faster. This approach should work for almost all conditions. You would also like to make sure that you have virus free system.
It is not worth it to update this dinosaur. EVERYTHING would need updating. Be glad that it lasted this long and buy something nice.
well the cheapest way to speed it up would be to reformat, defragment disk and get new RAM.
you could get a new processor for it, but that’s like putting rimms on a busted car.
Haha..i can`t believe a late 90s computer could even attempt today`s computing environment, but i admire your persisting with it.The world needs more people like you !
The problem with trying to speed it up is that…you can`t !..It`s super ancient (in computer years)
The good news is that anything you buy new today would be light years better than your current one.Even buying a refurbished or used computer would be.
It is possible to get a refurbished basic one with small monitor for under $400.
I suggest you find a tech savvy friend to advise you or google info about buying a computer.Don`t get sucked into buying something super whizzy (and pricey) as you probably would have no need for 80% of the power.
Get a good size monitor (19 ins +).They are worth the money.
