nothing at the end of the day its not really hard work ( i dnt ask ppl to pay me hell i love working on computers ) i think having a good reputation is better when ppl know your an honest trustfull person and are not trying to rip them off for every small thing i find there more likey to come back to you for help as they can trust you so when you do bigger things later on there computer normaly more willing to give you a tip or what ever you want to call it
$20
you don’t say where you are or whether he’s supplying the W7 … but time is money and you need to work out how much an hour your time is worth … average wage get approx $20 an hour so that’s a starting point (a low one but you got to start somewhere) … my rate is $55 an hour and with installation (of supplied software) configuration all updates and basic apps such as iTunes Firefox QuickTime Adode Reader DivX xVid different Codec packs etc. I estimate about a 4 hour install (you need to download all these as well remember) … if you’re looking more as an up-front figure $100 would be my minimum for someone I knew … MY time is worth a lot to me
At the top rate backup is included … at a low rate you need to be charging for that time as well
I charge a friend or neighbor the cost of equipment or software purchased just for the task, and refuse payment. I suggest a dinner invitation in return for a session, if offered payment for labor.
If not a friend, and since I know I am not a pro either, I charge half the rate of a pro (they get $40-70 per hour) or less, depending upon ability to pay. If I cannot do the job, I refuse to charge. Also, I try to not lose data (been fortunate on that). I count only the time spent actually doing something with the equipment to solve the problem or do the task. I don’t charge for travel time, or sitting watching the hard drive crank, or going on the Internet to find what I don’t know.
because our world is guided by the mighty greenback, being our dictated currency of domination, i would recommend(in dollars) atleast 20 dollars. nothing above 35.
the time it took you x10.
thats what i charge
Depends on the going rates around your area. For install of OS: $50, Backing Up Files: $30, Install Software: $30.
