Im pretty sure windows 7’s built in system restore backs up the registry.
the best way is just keep restore points. If you do not have a windows 7 os disk, then you need to create a repair disk so you can access the repair features including restore point, if you are unable to boot because of registry issues.

Copy and paste into a text file (Use Notepad Start>Accesories>Notepad). Save the text file. Make an extra copy and put it on another drive if you are paranoid.
When you need to fix it, just copy and paste again 🙂
Note: The registry is under some kinda right-click on My Computer-although they might have hidden it in Windows 7 to create an even greater illusion…
-You can actually find a single line of text in there that is the registry lols. Too easy to mess up your Comp-imagine what a 4 year old might accidentally do! HAHAHA
Registry is a very important module in windows operating system, so backup it frequently is very important. When there is something wrong with your computer, you can restore it to repair your computer.
ou must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps. If you aren’t logged in as an administrator, you can only change settings that apply to your user account.
Before you make changes to a registry key or subkey, we recommend that you export, or make a backup copy, of the key or subkey. You can save the backup copy to a location you specify, such as a folder on your hard disk or a removable storage device. If you make changes that you want to undo, you can import the backup copy.
1. Open the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, typing regedit into the search box, and then pressing Enter.‌ Administrator permission required If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation
2.Locate and click the key or subkey that you want to back up.
3.Click the File menu, and then click Export.
4.In the Save in box, select the location where you want to save the backup copy to, and then type a name for the backup file in the File name box. Then click save.
